Education

  • University of Toronto, Philosophy, BA, 2009.
  • University of California, Berkeley, Ph.D., Philosophy, 2018.

Jim grew up in Dundas, Ontario. He did his undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Toronto, and his Ph.D at UC Berkeley. His dissertation, A Haunting Conviction: Frege on Truth and Logic, is about how Frege's views of truth and science interact with his famous logical project. Jim is especially interested in truth and in the axioms, methods, and goals that are the starting points of philosophy, particularly as these topics arise in the Neo-Kantian and Early Analytic periods.
