Richard Rufus ProjectNEH Funds Ground-Breaking History of Philosophy Project at IU: The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) awarded Professor Rega Wood's Richard Rufus Project (RRP) $330,000 in funding to support research that is changing the way scholars understand the history of philosophy. Many of Richard Rufus’ philosophical works, lost for 600 years, were rediscovered by Professor Rega Wood in the 1980s. In the ensuing decades, Professor Wood of IU has dedicated her career to collecting, editing, and publishing his works.

Jackson GandourCongratulations to Jackson Gandour for the Kate Hevner Mueller Outstanding Award for IU seniors. Only 18 individuals were selected for this year. The award is based on commitment to academic and co-curricular involvement, student leadership and service to Indiana University Bloomington. This award recognizes “students who have left the campus better than they found it.”

Janelle De WittThe Philosophy Department is pleased to announce that Janelle DeWitt will be the Ruth Normal Halls Postdoctoral Fellow for 2015-2017. DeWitt received her PhD from UCLA and specializes in Kant's ethics, moral psychology, and the philosophy of emotions.

Cody VaughnThe philosophy department is pleased to announce that philosophy major Cody Vaughn has been selected for the Dorotha Lee Williams Karsell College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship, the David Matthew Ver Hagen Memorial Scholarship, and the Stephen F. Cohen and Katrina Vanden Heuvel Scholarship from the College of Arts and Sciences for the 2015-16 academic year. Congratulations Cody!

Jackson GandourCongratulations to Philosophy Major Jackson Gandour for winning the College of Arts and Science 2015 Palmer-Brandon Prize in the Humanities! The Palmer-Brandon prize includes a scholarship of $20,000. This award represents the largest award that the College of Arts and Sciences grants to students in the Humanities in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
